Television personality Amanda Holden, best known for her role as judge on Britain’s Got Talent, lost her 7-month baby over the weekend. She went in for a routine check after noticing that the baby hadn’t moved for a day – and was told he was dead.

Holden, who had another miscarriage last year at 4 months, kept news of the pregnancy a secret precisely because she didn’t want to go through the possible pain of a miscarriage in public.

The Daily Mail reports that, as of now, doctors remain baffled as to what may have caused the miscarriage, since previous tests had shown the baby was healthy and developing well.

For a day before she went for a checkup, Amanda hadn’t felt it move, which surprised her somewhat since he was a very “squirmy” baby, a source close to Amanda and her husband says for the Daily Mail.

The television star was put under heavy sedation for a while but is now believed to be at home. She will never be the same after this, says the spy.

“There is no reason for this at the moment, the doctors have no idea what happened,” the insider reveals, speaking of doctors’ bafflement about the miscarriage.

“Amanda was filming the BGT auditions in Birmingham the day before and just said she was popping to the hospital for reassurance as she had not felt the baby kick. Up until then, he had been really active and she kept saying that he was a real squirmer,” the source says.

“The next thing we knew, Chris rang up to say what had happened. Amanda had regular scans all the way along her pregnancy, and they showed that everything was fine. There was absolutely no warning,” adds the spy.

A rep for the couple has confirmed the terrible news, as speculation says the two have left the UK in a bid to avoid the media frenzy and come to terms with what has just happened.

“They are utterly devastated. Amanda had been closely monitored throughout her pregnancy and it is not yet known what went wrong,” Holden’s publicist says.

“Both Chris and Amanda would like to thank the midwives and staff at the Queen Mary Maternity unit at West Middlesex Hospital for their tremendous support,” the rep adds.
