Says she sees no point in growing old gracefully

Amanda Holden, the outspoken and gorgeous Britain’s Got Talent judge that the public has come to love and admire throughout the years, is not ashamed to admit to being addicted to Botox. As a matter of fact, in a brand new interview for Heat magazine, the star even comes clean about the number of jabs she has had so far and how frequently – while also agreeing to pose for a photo with no makeup on.

Holden, who is nearing 40, is still considered one of the best-looking women in the British showbiz – but she’s the first to say that it’s not all up to good genes with her, since she’s fan of Botox for almost two years now. In fact, Amanda gets the jab so often she has come to think of the procedure as something as simple as teeth whitening. Granted, she too understands that there are certain risks she must be cautious of, but she knows that, as long as she doesn’t cross the line, she’ll be just fine.

“I have had Botox, which I’m happy to admit. It’s running out now, though – I need to go again.” Holden says for the magazine, admitting she first decided to get the injections after spending many months in the African Sun, which accentuated her wrinkles to the point of driving her makeup artist to the brink of insanity. So, she went and had them injected with the poison, and has been hooked on Botox ever since, an addiction to which her belief that she doesn’t necessarily have to grow old gracefully also contributes considerably.

“Oh no, I agree with Simon Cowell. It’s like cleaning your teeth – maintenance. It’s like getting your roots done. I think as long as you don’t go stupidly over the top... I can move my face.” Holden says when asked whether she fears getting stuck with the “frozen face” look for the rest of her life. “You can still see I’ve got some Botox in my forehead but the rest has virtually worn off. Yes, I think it’s character and everything else, but [expletive] it! That’s why I need to get it done again.” the star adds.

In the same interview, Holden reveals that, while she’s heavy into Botox and will perhaps get fillers in the near future as well, she is not the kind to go for plastic surgery. Because of a skin condition that makes her very prone to visible scarring, Holden cannot get surgery because she would be left with unsightly marks, which is why she’s planning to do all she can to stay young with Botox for as long as possible.

“My mum has amazing skin, so does my nan, but I think everything starts drooping around 45, so I know I’ll succumb. The problem is that I’ve got keloid skin which means I scar really easily. So if I had surgery, I’d have worms of scar marks everywhere, so that’s not going to work for me. One day I’ll look my age. Actually, that’s a lie – I want to look like Joan Rivers. I don’t see the point in growing old gracefully.” Amanda Holden explains.
