14 DAY TRIAL // Things unraveled pretty fast for Amanda Bynes, after what can only be dubbed as a very troubled week, during which she acted out in public and on Twitter and sparked more “insanity” rumors than ever before. She is currently in an institution in California, where she’s been placed on an involuntary hold pending psychiatric evaluation, after fleeing NYC to LA, hoping to escape her parents.
The first video embedded below shows the retired actress in a NYC shop, right before she tried to walk out with an item she had not paid for and she was detained for shoplifting. She’s in the company of a bodyguard and she’s shown dancing around the store, as if there’s no one around.
At one point, she’s patting down her bodyguard / driver, as if looking for guns or wires. That, together with countless reports on her erratic behavior, preceded another Twitter meltdown, in which she accused her father of verbally and physically molesting her as a child.

That was, as they say, the straw that broke the camel’s back. Amanda’s tweets on the topic have been removed, but we could sum them up like this: she started off by saying that her father was responsible for her current low self-esteem because he would always call her “ugly” as a child.
She then went on to add that he had physically and verbally molested her, would beat her up and had incestuous relationships with her. What was worse was that her mother knew about this all along, and never did anything to stop him or bring him to justice – so she’d decided to take matters into her own hands.
She wanted her father behind bars, she added.
Word of this spread online like wildfire, prompting her parents to issue a statement to deny the allegations: there was absolutely no truth to the claims; Amanda was a profoundly disturbed young woman who needed help, they said. At the same time, they made arrangements to fly to New York and have her admitted to a facility there.
Amanda backtracked, fled NYC, then went back on her story
Amanda’s response came also on Twitter: she didn’t mean all those things she’d said about her dad, she only said it because she has a microchip implanted in her head that, apparently, makes her say and do strange stuff.
She also packed a bag and flew out of New York, having heard that her parents were coming to get her hospitalized. The second video below is of her at LAX, where, as you can see, she went back on her story and said that, yes, her father did molest her and she wanted him in jail. She also wished she had Britney Spears’ dad instead, because at least he seemed like a nice guy.
TMZ reports that she was picked up by her parents and their attorneys shortly after she landed and admitted to a California institution where she’d been placed on involuntary psychiatric hold. This lasts on average 72 hours but can be extended to 14 days, if need be.
During this time, Amanda’s parents will try to have her under a conservatorship again, so that she takes the treatment she clearly needs. This is the second time in as many years she’s having such a mediated meltdown, and the second time she’s hospitalized against her will because of her mental issues.
Amanda is diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and is believed to be a drug and alcohol addict.
