A pooch by the name Bomi can thank Alyssa Milano for being alive and well, media reports say. More precisely, the dog has the actress to thank for the fact that, rather than being abused in South Korea, it now lives with a foster family in Los Angeles, US.

Ecorazzi tells us that, at the time when a South Korean animal rescue organization named CARE first stumbled upon Bomi, the latter was being abused and neglected. What's more, it appears that the pooch was meant for the slaughterhouse.

The animal rights activists say that, when they found Bomi, the dog was tied to a pole, and had no place to seek shelter when the weather took a turn for the worse.

Together with The Fuzzy Pet Foundation, CARE decided to rescue the pooch and send it from Seoul, South Korea, to Los Angeles. Due to a lack of funds, the green groups almost failed to rescue the dog.

Luckily for them – and for Bomi – Alyssa Milano stepped in and paid for the pooch's relocation.

“I am thrilled to have brought Bomi to safety, and look forward to the day she finally gets adopted into a forever home,” the actress said in an interview.

“My heart goes out to the countless other dogs and cats who are suffering from animal abuse, struggling to survive on the streets, or waiting in animal shelters for a quality home,” she added.
