Altech announced its validation of the AMD Live Entertainment Suite for the highly anticipated Maestro Media Centre range. According to the company, they are working closely with AMD to ensure that Maestro is fully compliant with AMD Live.

The Maestro was launched as a feature packed and user friendly media center PC. It utilizes the powerful Athlon 64X2 Dual Core that enables consumers to take advantage of their entertainment collection, said the producer. ?Altech's position as the premier builder of premium media centers has again been endorsed by AMD validating the Maestro systems to carry the AMD Live logo. Maestro is the only locally built system and the only premium media centers available in the Australian market that are AMD Live Certified", said Kevin Hartin, Altech National Sales Manager.

Regarding the AMD Live PC and AMD Live Entertainment Suite, Bob Brewer, corporate vice president, Desktop Business, AMD declared that they ?represent the culmination of industry-leading companies collaborating around open standards to deliver compelling entertainment solutions. With the AMD Live PC, AMD begins delivering on its vision for merging broadcast TV content with interactive, personalized broadband applications and services, all without disrupting the devices already accepted and used by consumers in their homes today".

What exactly does the AMD Live do? It enables consumers to stream music through their entertainment centre, view and share photos on their television sets, burn and share recorded TV shows, videos and pictures to a DVD or CD, or transfer this same content to a notebook, MP3 player or a PDA. The Live Entertainment Suite will offer four main features. One - called AMD Live On Demand - is designed to offer a service, via Orb Networks, to stream live or prerecorded television shows, photos, music and movies to devices connected to the Internet. The suite will also include an application tool that aims to compress recorded TV shows, allowing more shows to be stored on a PC. It will also offer 25GB of free storage via AMD's Live Media Vault and a service to set up and manage a home network.
