Seven hours of 'full power' and sound depending on air

Altec Lansing today launched a new friend for the famous iPod Nano - the inMotion iM500 portable audio system, which is a light-weight, highly portable and compact speaker system that can be also folded, being able to fit even into your smallest handbag, informs Hardware Zone.

So, it is again about the iPod and miniaturization. I'm wondering what they'll do next? Develop a miniature car or maybe a full-featured robot-maid?

But let's return to our iPod dedicated speaker system. As you might already know, Altec is famous for its audio design know-how, so these little foldable speakers couldn't deliver but an almost perfect sound. Moreover, the iM500 folds to almost 8.5-inch wide, 0.7-inch deep and 5-inch high and weighs only 12 ounces. Also, the speakers system has an enhanced battery life of more than seven hours of full functioning, as the system can work with an AC or the battery.

"Audio volume depends on the measure of air movement within the speaker. Therefore, the iM500 uses innovative broad-faced speaker cones, which provide more surface area to drive more air within a small space. Further, the unexpected sound is enhanced by MaxxBass technology for greater bass performance and tuned to Altec Lansing audio standards for a richer overall listening experience. And, it's all wrapped up in a package that's similar in thickness to a DVD case," writes Hardware Zone.

The new iM500 includes an enhanced MaxxBass technology for quality bass without a subwoofer, integrated iPod docking station for data transfer and iPod recharge, and a supplementary jack that enables users to plug in other audio devices, including other iPods, CDs, MP3s or portable DVD players.

The inMotion iM500 portable speaker system will be available in Singapore at Sim Lim Square, Funan Center and Apple Stores at an estimated price of $199.
