The improvements warranted a new name

We reported some time ago that with the PlayStation 3 version of the Alone in the Dark title, Atari addressed all of the bugs and improved a lot of things in the game. Well, the company recently came up with a statement in which it said that, because of the vast array of improvements and patches, this version would be entitled Alone in the Dark: Inferno. Although it is nice that Atari fixed all of the bugs and annoying stuff from the other versions, this decision to give it a new name is a bit weird.

For those of you who don't know, Alone in the Dark is the latest title in the survival horror franchise, which was launched for the Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii in June. The PS3 version will hit the shelves of game stores starting November 21 and promises to patch and improve the features that really bothered the buyers of the other versions.

Among these improvements are a new revamped inventory system that pauses the game when you access it, a full camera control for a better gameplay and a vastly improved driving system that gives you much more control over the vehicles in the game.

It definitely is nice that Atari has really gone that extra mile and ensured that the PS3 title was up to date and will offer players the best experience from this game and not just release another faulty title like the previous versions.

But don't worry, the company also stated that, at least for the Xbox 360, all of the updates and improvements from this version would appear as full patch on Xbox Live.

However, until the launch of Alone in the Dark: Inferno, scheduled for November, you will have to work your way through all of the glitches and bugs of the other editions.
