One of the hottest pieces of news making the rounds on the Internet during the pre-Christmas period is the one regarding the leaked photo of the alleged “iPad 2” or “iPad mini”, posted by Taiwanese blogger/pop star Jimmy Lin, that, as you'll be able to see as follows, might not even be genuine, after all. So, the guys over at GizInChina, who were also among the first to post the original story regarding the iPad “mini”, have now come across an 8-inch knock-off Android tablet that might very well be the one showcased by Mr.Lin (even if some sources actually claimed that the whole thing was actually photoshopped).

As you can see from the photos, the device has a very similar design to that of the original iPad, even the Android 2.2 OS running on the tablet being specially modified in order to resemble the iOS user interface.

The alloy body is a carbon copy of the iPad’s own case, apart from the fact that it's smaller, the tablet presented by GizInChina featuring just an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen display.

Plus, the tablet also sports a 30 pin dock connector, head phone jack, speaker, volume rocker and power/sleep button are all where one would normally expect, but with the addition of a mini SD card reader.

Other features worth mentioning about the clone include the Cortex A8 800mhz CPU, 512MB of RAM memory, 4GB of built-in flash memory, as well as the pretty impressive battery, of around 4,000 mAh, which should have this thing running for up to 4 hours when browsing the web via the built-in 3G module.

What's even more interesting than the fact that this thing has such a close resemblance to the iPad, not to mention the craze it might have induced amid Apple fans from all over the world, is its pricing, of just around 1200 Chinese Yuan (or around 180 US dollars), which would make this thing one of the cheapest of its type available out there.
