In the wake of Philip Seymour Hoffman's death, the National Enquirer made the surprising claim that the Hollywood actor was having a secret gay love affair with one of the men that found him in his apartment, David Bar Katz.

Today, David is coming out to address the issue and he says that he will be filing a lawsuit against the publication, claiming that he never gave them the interview they said he did. Also, he's denying that he and the dead actor were having a gay relationship at the time of his demise.

The National Enquirer has also made claims that Katz saw Hoffman freebashing in cocaine the night of his death, something which the 44-year-old playwright has also denied.

The magazine fabricated a story in which Hoffman's gay affair had caused him to become estranged from the mother of his three children, Mimi O'Donnell, which ultimately led to him relapsing into drug use.

One of Katz's friends was more virulent in his reply to the tabloid, by saying that they published a “categorical, 1000% vulgar and disgusting lie.” He also said that Katz was lawyering up to address the issue in court.

It was Katz who found Hoffman dead in his New York apartment and then called 911. He was accompanied by the actor's personal assistant, Isabella Wing-Davey. He now recounts his final meeting with Seymour “I saw him last week, and he was clean and sober, his old self.”

However, in the interview quoted by the National Enquirer, he is more open to disclosing personal information by saying that he and Hoffman were gay “lovers” and that they “had a relationship.”

“We were planning to go to the Super Bowl together and have a really nice day. This is so terrible,” he goes on in what looks to be a badly written fake interview.

Katz is now said to be suing the Enquirer for several tens of million dollars.
