14 DAY TRIAL // Kim Kardashian said “I Do” for the third time over the weekend, in a gorgeous ceremony in Florence, Italy, becoming the wife of rapper Kanye West. This is his first time down the aisle and, reports say, this would explain why he was uncharacteristically nervous.
The first details of the so-called wedding of the year have emerged online and they confirm that, as promised, Kim and Kanye spared no expense in making their big day an event that not one of their 200 guests would ever forget.
The nuptials were kicked off by a “wedding weekend” in the French capital Paris, the city that, for many months, was believed to host the wedding as well. Presumably, the future bride and groom wanted the Palace of Versailles for the wedding but they couldn’t get it, so they settled for the rehearsal dinner to take place there.
Once that was over, the two and their guests were flown by private jet to Florence, at the Forte di Belvedere castle. Security was very tight and, Too Fab reports, all guests were asked to sign confidentiality agreements at the door, where they were also asked to leave their cell phones.
There was a photo booth right outside and guests were allowed to share those photos on social media and with whoever else they wanted.
As Kim walked down the aisle, Andrea Bocelli sang “Con te Partiró,” People magazine writes. Bruce Jenner gave the bride away, while momager Kris Jenner was sat front-row, holding her granddaughter North, Kim’s daughter with Kanye. Kim and North wore matching Givenchy dresses, and Kris was seen dabbing away at her tears several times, People magazine notes.
The ceremony was officiated by Rich Wilkerson, “a pastor from North Miami,” and the bride and groom spoke their vows “softly” in front of a “wall of flowers.” Kim was beaming but Kanye was visibly nervous, eyewitnesses say for the same media outlet.
The reception was organized by family friend and celebrity event planner Sharon Sacks and included guests like John Legend and wife Chrissy Teigen, Brittny Gastineau, Blac Chyna, NeNe Leakes, and LaLa Anthony. Legend performed two songs, leaving very few dry eyes in the house.
Beyonce and Jay Z decided against attending, choosing to take the weekend off for some time alone in the Hamptons. Anna Wintour, the Vogue editor-in-chief, declined the invitation because of another commitment, but she reportedly agreed to feature wedding photos in one of the upcoming issues of the magazine, so perhaps Kim really didn’t mind it that much that she couldn’t come.
A photo of the menu has leaked online, showing that guests were served Tuscan traditional or inspired dishes. There’s no word yet on the wedding cake, but we do know from reports that many of the dishes served were covered in gold speckles as per Kim’s instructions.
The same goes for Kim’s wedding dress, which was reportedly kept a secret even from many of the members of the family. We do know that it was a Givenchy creation and we do know that it looked gorgeous, as you can see from the photo embedded below.
