Since season 1 of NBC’s hit show The Voice wrapped, there has been a lot of talk and speculation on whether Christina Aguilera and fellow judges will return for another one. Confirmation is now in that all 4 coaches are on board.

Earlier this week, Aguilera played it coy when asked by the media whether she would return for a second season of the show, saying something along the lines of “I would if they asked me.”

Entertainment Weekly now has confirmation that she and her fellow coaches / mentors / judges will return for a new season of the show, of which NBC now says it’s a good American Idol rival, just like it was meant to be from the start.

“They’ll be back! NBC announced today that Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee-Lo Green will return for a second season of The Voice,” EW writes.

“The quartet wrapped their first season on Wednesday, when Javier Colon was officially named ‘The Voice.’ He scored a recording contract with Universal Republic, a $100,000 cash prize, and a key spot on the summer Voice tour that kicks off July 27 in Los Angeles,” the same media outlet reports.

Leaving the show after just one season would not have made any sense, come to think of it, especially given reports that Aguilera makes $225,000 for a single episode, whereas the other stars on the panel also cash in an estimated $75,000 per episode.

Despite host Carson Daly saying earlier on that the show would survive even without the stars on the panel because it was bigger than them, NBC clearly doesn’t see things in the same light.

“Our fantastic coaches were integral to the tremendous success of The Voice this year and we are thrilled that they are all returning,” Paul Telegdy, NBC’s head of alternative programming, says in a statement.

“We look forward to building season two and making The Voice an even greater experience for fans,” Telegdy adds.

Season 2 of The Voice premieres in the winter.
