It takes a greedy corporation to start a true AvP war

Rebellion has had us on the edge of our seats for quite some time now, but it wasn't a universal ”seat's edge” when it announced that it was working on Aliens vs. Predator. The feeling became a general one when it started releasing the first details and trailers, and we were able to see for ourselves that this game looked like it would live up to the legend of the AvP games, and not the movie disasters. The first trailers, mainly the simple multiplayer gameplay and atmosphere ones, were more than enough to promise a visceral experience, similar to the ones in the previous titles.

After the game's publisher, Sega, managed a historic win in the censorship battle of video games, as the Australian Rating Board lifted the rating interdiction on the title and finally awarded it an MA15+ after the appeal, it has more exciting news for us. Rebellion has released another trailer for it, and, this time, it's one more focused on the single player of the game and, mainly, the story. The trailer is narrated by none other than Lance Henriksen, who plays the iconic Carl Bishop Weyland, the head of the Weyland Yutani Corporation.

The gist of the story seems to the somewhat a classic one when it comes to xenomorphs. The “Company” has once again decided to play God with the brutal race, and the Alien Queen did not take kindly to it. So, it didn't take long before the research facility situated on a paradise-like, off world colony was overrun by aliens, and the good old marines were called forth to become lambs to the slaughter.

As for the Predator's involvement in the story, that's still a little bit scant at the moment. A Predator artifact is present in the trailer, as Bishop ponders its very age and, while “Dreadlocks of Death” is shown taking a very active role in the battle-royal, clues of his intentions are not present. While the Predator doesn't really need a reason to jump in the middle of a human-xenomorph war, the game does show hints of having a rather decent narrative line, so it would be nice if there was a purpose behind his actions, and not just ripping off spines and collecting trophies.
