They had been silently removed at the end of 2014

For unknown reasons SEGA’s Aliens vs. Predator (2010) and Aliens: Colonial Marines games were removed from Steam in late December 2014. There are quite a few speculations running around claiming that SEGA dropped the trademarks or did not want to renew them, but it looks like those were just speculations.

Both games have now returned to Steam, so anyone with an addiction to Aliens franchise who doesn’t own them yet can purchase Aliens vs. Predator (2010) and Aliens: Colonial Marines for €14.99 ($14.99) each.

It’s rather curios that now both of SEGA’s games have the same price, even though Aliens: Colonial Marines has been released back in 2013, whereas the other one is about 5 years old.

Unfortunately, given the fact that SEGA has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, it’s hard to determine the real cause of the removal.

The disappearance may have something to do with licenses expiring

While most people were more concerned about the disappearance of Aliens vs. Predator (2010) from Steam rather than Gearbox’s Aliens: Colonial Marines game, we believe that games launched on Steam shouldn’t be removed unless special circumstances apply.

That being said, the cause of the strange removal of SEGA’s Aliens games from Steam may have something to do with licenses expiring, though we can’t be sure without the publisher confirming it.

All in all, the good news is both Aliens vs. Predator (2010) and Aliens: Colonial Marines are now back on Steam to add on the already rich lineup of Aliens games owned by SEGA.
