Looks like Sega is more than determined to make some serious money. After grabbing the rights for an Iron Man video game, this next move seems not that out of the ordinary. I must inform you that this Japanese company has secured the rights for developing an Alien-based game or two.

According to hollywoodreporter.com, Sega will develop multiple next-gen and PC video games set in the Alien universe, including a first-person shooter and an RPG, and apparently, these games will ship in 2008.

Rob Lightner, Sega's vp of business development, said that his company is currently discussing with the actors from the Alien movies to provide their likenesses and voices to the games' characters. Discussions are underway right now with Sigourney Weaver and Lance Henriksen.

Mike Gallo, senior producer of Sega's Alien games, revealed that the games will not follow the story lines of the movies, but a new experience will be created inspired by the films' ideas. Some characters from the movies will be incorporated into the games, and gamers may have the possibility to find answers to questions left unanswered in the movies.

These are not the first video games based on Alien movies to come out. I must remind you of Alien vs Predator, Alien vs Predator: The Last of His Clan, Aliens vs Predator 2. The list goes on with many Alien-based games, most of them published by Activision.

Elie Dekel, executive vice-president of 20th Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising, revealed that Fox will keep the Alien vs Predators franchise and that the second movie in the series is currently in production.
