The folks at Dogs Trust have recently rescued a terrier cross that was found wandering around a park in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Fast forward a few weeks, and the pooch shares a home with Gerry and Mary Gledhill, a retired couple in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

At the time when it was found and taken to a local veterinary clinic, the pooch was in really poor condition. Long story short, it was almost completely hairless, and its body was all wrinkled.

It was because of this that the people who rescued it decided to name it ET.

“When he came to us he was very downbeat. Because he had little tufts of hair over his body and this really wrinkled skin he did look most peculiar and a bit like a cute little alien – hence the name,” explains Amanda Sands with Dogs Trust Leeds.

Daily Mail tells us that, all things considered, the pooch was probably abandoned by its previous owners, who for some reason decided not to invest time and energy into looking after it after the pooch developed a skin irritation that eventually caused it to lose its hair.

All it took for ET to get back on its feet was some decent food, antibiotics and several baths with a special shampoo that helped cure its skin irritation.

Once it started feeling better, the dog was put up for adoption and, this past Thursday, it officially became the latest addition to Gerry and Mary Gledhill's family, who changed its name to Bobby.

The couple has one other dog, a German shepherd named Darcy. Luckily, the latter does not seem to mind sharing its home with the rescued terrier cross.
