Nvidia has decided to share some of the impressive PhysX effects that are incorporated in the new Alice Madness Returns game, complete with comparison screenshots and a video of the title that is released this week.

Gamers are preparing to once again step into the shoes of Alice, who must visit the so-called Wonderland in order to battle legions of new and imaginative enemies throughout this retelling of the classic Lewis Carroll story.

While the game is out for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, only computer users with Nvidia graphics cards can properly enjoy the game, thanks to the special PhysX optimizations done by the development team at Spicy Horse and Nvidia itself.

Alice Madness Returns has a distinct visual style, so the team wanted to impress gamers with lots of unique effects and elements, and Nvidia was more than willing to offer access to its special PhysX technology, which enables its graphics cards to render more complex things on the screen, without burdening the CPU of the PC.

"On the PC, those with compatible NVIDIA graphics cards will be able to experience Madness Returns with an extra level of immersion thanks to the implementation of hardware accelerated PhysX effects," the hardware company said.

"Not only will they receive a better visual experience than players on consoles due to higher resolution textures and advanced anti-aliasing, they’ll also experience the game in a way others won’t."

More specifically, special particle effects will be available to those with compatible video cards from Nvidia, including better-looking finishing moves, better liquid dynamics, or enhanced destruction effects done to the environments, as Alice is now much more capable of interacting with the world around her.

Nvidia also highlights that these extra effects are only possible thanks to the PhysX technology, which does all the computing required for their rendering through the graphics card, without affecting the framerate by using any CPU power.
