14 DAY TRIAL // Alexa Ray Joel, the daughter of model Christine Brinkley and musician Billy Joel, would like haters to sit down, shut up, and hear her out for a few minutes: despite recent reports that she’s had a complete makeover through plastic surgery, she only went under the knife for a nose job, to which she’s already owned up.
This isn’t the first time that the blogosphere and the tabloids go buzzing with speculation of plastic surgery, but, unlike on previous occasions, she’s making sure all those who think she had her entire face down get the message.
The photo above, a side-by-side comparison of Alexa when she was younger and a more recent photo of her, started making the rounds a couple of days ago and is considered by many irrefutable proof of the amount of surgery she’s had.
That’s all false, Alexa writes on her Instagram: the only surgery she ever had was rhinoplasty. Whatever difference we see in the “before” and “after” shots is explainable by professional makeup, losing weight and, last but not least, growing up.
“All of the continuously-circulating rumors that I have had extensive ‘face-work’ and undergone breast-augmentation surgery is simply and entirely 100% false. The only thing I have ever had done is my nose, which I have always been completely candid, honest, and open about,” she says.
To really drive the message home, Alexa has also issued a statement to Us Weekly, one of the first celebrity publication to note her “transformation.” In it, she says the same thing: she looks different from how she looked like a teen because, duh!, she’s a grown woman now.
“I have lost weight simply from maturing, and I have fully contoured ‘stage makeup’ and hair done for my first debut show at the Carlyle Hotel in NYC. Obviously I’m going to look different… It’s called ‘growing up’! I have only gotten one nose-job done. That is the absolute extent of the surgeries I have had,” she says.
“I’m very sorry to disappoint everyone who wants to believe that I have had multiple surgeries, but that just simply isn’t true.” [The only secret is] makeup and a push-up bra… Anyways… sorry to disappoint everyone… I don’t have low self-esteem at all, contrary to all of your unsubstantiated opinions, and I accept and love myself for exactly who I am, as every empowered woman should!” she says.
Bloggers and celebrity journalists who say otherwise, who insists that she’s had work done are nothing but bullies and haters and, to them, Alexa has only one thing to say: get up from the computer and go and take a good, long look in the mirror.
