The news that Alex Trebek, the presenter of Jeorpardy, rapped on the show an entire category, sparked off a trend on the internet. People who saw his name trending on Twitter feared he was dead. Turns out he was just blasting out mad rhymes.

The 73-year-old presenter has been with the show since 1984, but on Monday, he offered viewers and the contestants a whole new show. Reading the questions to a category named “It's a rap,” Alex could be heard citing quotes from the classics of rap.

Trebek seemed a bit hesitant at first, but quickly grew accustomed and began spitting rhymes from rap heavyweights such as Dr. Dre, Notorious B.I.G., Public Enemy and the Beastie Boys.

He earned a laughter from one of the contestants when he rapped the final question in the category.

“Yes, and I don't know why that's making you laugh so much,” Alex replied in a seemingly innocent manner. The usually calm and composed Trebek surprised everyone with his skills, prompting some to call him “the new Macklemore.”
