14 DAY TRIAL // Alec Baldwin is about to tie the knot for the second time even though he once said, after his very nasty divorce from Kim Basinger, that he had learned his lesson. He proposed to his girlfriend Hilaria Thomas.
And she said yes, a rep for the happy couple confirms for People magazine.
“Yes, it’s true! Alec proposed to Hilaria this weekend and we’re all excited for the newly engaged couple. Alec’s birthday is tomorrow – great way to celebrate!” the publicist says for the celebrity publication.
The actor, 53, and Hilaria, who is just 28 and works as a yoga instructor, met last summer. They have been practically inseparable ever since but word never got out they were even thinking of taking their romance to the next level.
“I’ve got a woman in my life now. My girlfriend is very important to me,” Alec once said when talking of his latest conquest.
As noted above, this is Alec's second marriage but, hopefully, things will have a happy ending this time around.
He was previously married to Kim Basinger: that lasted for 9 years and ended in one of the nastiest, most bitter and mediated divorce ever in showbiz.
Caught smack in the middle was Ireland, their daughter, for whose custody the two continued to duke it out in court for years after they were legally separated.
Speaking of which, back in 2005, Baldwin, who is open about his anger management issues, compared it to being diagnosed with cancer.
“I believe the child lives in a constant state of tension wherein she must never display or divulge her true feelings for her father because of the mother's all-consuming and bitter feelings toward me,” he said at the time, attacking his ex, Kim.
“It's like being diagnosed with cancer. Something I realize I have to live with,” he added.
