Due to increased customer demand, Aldi re-launches its wallet-friendly tablet

If you haven't managed to catch one of the super-cheap Medion Lifetab tablets sold by supermarket Aldi back in December 2013, don’t worry. I have good news for you.

The tablet reportedly sold out in just two days and the retail guru has been promising it will re-stock supplies ever since, but that has not happened until now. According to Wired, Aldi is set to re-launch the Lifetab tablet as soon as this week, on March 27 for the same price of £79.99 / $131 / €96.

So you better mark this date into your calendar in case you haven’t fallen into temptation and opted to purchase a tablet from the competition, coming via Tesco, Argos or Carphone Warehouse.

The tablet draws power from a 1.6GHz dual-core processor combined with 1GB of RAM and the new model will bundle 16GB of internal storage, rather than just 8GB, as we seen with the initial model.

Even if the tablet is cheaper than the Argos’ MyTablet or Tesco’s Hudl, it offers the most in terms of raw-power. However, there’s some work to be done in the screen department in order to match Tesco’s product (1444 x 900 resolution), as the Lifetab only has 1024 x 600 pixel resolution.

Despite being re-launched, the internal memory boost is the only improvement to be found on board, so the slate runs the same Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, like its “predecessor.”
