Stepping away a little from brand vendors, let’s move into the realm of budget-friendly devices. Alcatel, also present at the CES 2014, has pulled the veil off a bunch of new Android tablets for the wallet conscious consumer.

The new Alcatel models, the OneTouch POP7 and OneTouch POP8 are part of the company’s “fun and colorful” POP series and will certainly bring a dash of intensity and joy in your life.

The POP7 is the more modest of the two, not that you should expect to see anything too high-end in either of them. The slate features a 7-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and draws power from a humble dual-core MediaTek MT8312 chip clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

Apart from that, there’s two cameras on board (2MP on the back and 0.3MP in front), microSD card, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G and IR blaster. POP7 also ships with a cheerful flip cover and protective case.

The POP8 has an 8-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and is fueled by a quad-core MT8382 chip clocked at 1.3GHz. Apart from what I have mentioned, the other specs remain identical.

So far nothing has been said about the pricing, but you can expect to see the POP 7 drop on the market in February 2014 while the POP 8 will arrive before March 2014.
