Alcatel is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new high-end smartphone, and the device appears to have been spotted on the GFXBench website with model number D820 attached to it.

The smartphone appears set to arrive on the market as part of Alcatel’s popular One Touch series of devices, and it should sport highly appealing hardware specifications, provided that the leaked info on it pans out.

Apparently, the device could hit shelves with a 4.6-inch touchscreen display that will be able to deliver an impressive 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution. Should this prove real, it would mean that the phone will be able to offer a 639ppi pixel density.

However, chances are that a mistake slipped in there, and that the phone will either have a larger screen and a 2K resolution, or the 4.6-inch display, but a lower resolution.

Keep in mind that LG’s latest flagship handset, the LG G3, was announced with a 5.5-inch Quad HD screen that boasts a 534ppi pixel density.

However, the Alcatel One Touch D820 will sport other high-end hardware capabilities inside as well, starting with an octa-core MediaTek MT6595 processor.

Based on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture, the processor includes four Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A7 ones. Moreover, the mobile phone is said to include 3GB of RAM inside, which should ensure great performance capabilities at all times.

The specifications list of this smartphone is also said to include 16GB of internal memory, along with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system loaded on top.

As PhoneArena notes, one very interesting aspect about the device, though it could be yet another mistake, is the fact that it has emerged in GFXBench with 8-megapixel cameras placed both on the back and on the front.

An 8MP front camera on a smartphone is not something unheard of, though it remains to be seen what rear camera the device will have to offer, and whether it will be capable of 4K video recording, as it is being suggested at the moment.

The yet unannounced mobile phone is also listed in the benchmarking database with Google’s Android 4.4.2 operating system loaded on top.

No official confirmation on the device has been provided as of now, and we have no info on when it might be launched as of now, but chances are that Alcatel will provide some details on the matter sooner rather than later, so keep an eye on this space for updates on the matter.
