14 DAY TRIAL // A little over a month after tying the knot in a secret ceremony, singer Alanis Morissette confirms she’s pregnant in the latest edition of Us Magazine.
The news comes as no surprise, since speculation in the US tabloids had it she was with child since before she tied the knot with her fiancé, after a few public appearances when she seemed to keep her tummy hidden from view.
At the “Prince of Persia” premiere, for instance, Alanis wore what was described as a “maternity-type of gown” (pictured here too), obviously in a bid to hide her protruding tummy until she was willing to make a statement about her expanding family.
More details on this are not available right now, but it’s not that hard to imagine that the singer and her husband, Mario Treadway (aka rapper Souleye), must be over the moon with excitement.
“You Oughta Know: Alanis Morissette is pregnant! The singer, 36, announces the happy news in the new Us Weekly, on newsstands now,” the aforementioned publication writes.
“In Us’ ‘25 Things You Don’t Know About Me’ section, Morissette lists ‘I am pregnant!’ as No. 25. Morissette wed rapper Souleye, 30 (real name: Mario Treadway), this past May 22 at their Los Angeles home,” the mag further says.
In other words, Alanis doesn’t make a bold “I’m pregnant!” statement, occupying most of the magazine cover and complete with details in the interview inside it, like many other celebs have done in the past.
Instead, she chooses to break the happy news to her loving fans by simply saying they should know about her that she’s expecting a child: simple and to the point, just like it was with confirmation of her wedding.
“We’re very excited to embark on this journey with each other,” the singer wrote on her official Twitter page only hours after she and Mario said their “I Do’s” and word of it had already transpired to the media.
