Some people seem to have more in common with cats than others, and just like the animals, they are lucky enough to have more lives and defy death in the most unlikely of circumstances.

An Alabama woman escaped unscathed after being run over by a speeding train on Wednesday morning, but she now faces charges for disorderly conduct and public intoxication after the train had to be stopped and an ambulance needed to be called at the scene.

According to Yahoo News, 22-year-old Lynsey Horne fell asleep on the train tracks, and luckily, she was not harmed when a train passed over her. However, concerned citizens who believed that the woman had been struck by the train called Auburn Police Division in Alabama and emergency teams were quickly dispatched at the scene.

Captain Lorenza Dorsey from Auburn Police says he has no idea how Horne ended up on the railroad tracks, and whether she went to sleep or passed out, but he believes her small size is what saved her from serious injury or death.

“You can absolutely call it a miracle, I mean, because of the fact that, luckily, [the train] was only two engines and a car, and the fact that her, I guess build or stature, and that she lied between the rails in a way that she was not struck by the actual train or any, you know, objects from the train. She is very, very fortunate and lucky,” Mr. Dorsey told reporters.

Mrs. Horne was found conscious and unhurt on the tracks near Ross and Gay streets by the officers who responded at a report saying that someone was hit by an oncoming train.

However, she didn't walk away completely scot-free after the incident. She was arrested and charged with public intoxication. Moreover, because of the disruption she caused (the train was halted, an ambulance came to the scene and a helicopter was put on standby), she was also charged with disorderly conduct.

And although she had no visible injuries, Horne was still taken to a nearby hospital for a more detailed checkup before being booked into the Lee County Detention Facility. Her bond was reportedly set at $600 (€440).

Talking about her miraculous escape, Captain Dorsey said he had never seen anything like this in his entire career.

“I’ve been here for 28 years, and I have never seen anyone get passed over by a moving freight train and survive it,” he said.
