Because families with children might be offended

Pamela Anderson has been part of more than one PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) campaign, the former “Baywatch” bombshell often lending her voice, face and body to the organization for a good cause. This time, with the Cruelty Doesn’t Fly campaign, things aren’t any different: what is different, though, is that airports in New York City have refused to air it as previously agreed, the Houston Chronicle informs.

The Cruelty Doesn’t Fly campaign has materialized in a video where Anderson acts as an airport security guard. However, unlike the real deal, the star wears hotpants and a shirt buttoned only loosely and matched with fingerless, black gloves, aviator sunglasses and, of course, high heels. Her responsibility is to not allow anyone board the plane if they have items made of leather, fur, wool or animal skin on them. If they do, they’re stripped of them and only afterwards allowed through.

“The ad was due to be shown at New York City’s three airports – but bosses pulled the plug over fears the racy film will offend passengers with young children. New York Post gossip column PageSix reports a representative for CNN Airport Network wrote to PETA bosses to explain the commercial is ‘particularly sensitive because children make up part of the demographic in airports.’ The animal rights group is now hoping to show the film on in-flight entertainment.” the Chronicle writes of the ban.

Other stars, like Steve-O, Andy Dick, Carol Leifer and Nina Hagen, also appear in the video, but, clearly, the big star is none other than Pamela, who does her best to do her part as the outraged and yet very authoritative security guard in the somewhat comedic video. There might be a funny side to the video, PETA says, but the message is clear: those who show cruelty towards animals by wearing them must be stripped of those possessions.

As we were also telling you just a short while ago, PETA is no stranger to controversy. The latest involved a huge billboard ad, put up in Jacksonville, that showed the back of a cartoon overweight woman ready to hit the beach. A huge caption read, “Save the Whales,” while, right below it, another one said, “Lose the blubber. Go vegetarian.”
