Airis T482 is a new GPS-enabled PDA that will soon be available across Europe. If "Airis" doesn't ring any bells, it is because the company with this name, based in Spain, is not that known outside its home country.

Airis T482 measures 125 x 62 x 14 millimeters, weighs 165 grams and, overall, it looks quite nice for a PDA. According to Mobinaute, the device will be available in France starting this week, bringing a wide range of useful features. Together with built-in GPS (SiRFStar III chip), the PDA packs the CoPilot Live 7 navigation system (created by ALK Technologies), a wide 3.2 inch touchscreen display, quad-band GSM connectivity with GPRS and EDGE (no 3G apparently), Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2.0 Megapixel camera, a Marvell PXA270 processor with a 416 MHz speed, 64MB of RAM, 128MB of internal memory, microSD card support and a powerful 1500 mAh battery (its exact performances are not known).

Airis T482 runs on Windows Mobile 6 Professional, hence it comes with Office Mobile (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), PDF viewer and Internet Explorer Mobile.

On the producer's website (in Spanish), the PDA's recommended price is 399 Euro ($630), but in France Airis T482 is said to be available for 424 Euro ($670), with the map of France pre-installed, and for 478 Euro ($755) with the map of Europe. No exact details about the availability on other markets, but since the device can be bought directly from its website, mobile users who need it will surely find a way to have it.

Besides the T482 PDA, Airis also produces other GPS navigation devices, as well as PCs, notebooks and TFT screens. It seems the company is quite experienced in electronics, and this should make the T482 a pretty good PDA.
