Most of the Asian MP3 players manufacturers choose to integrate their devices with the same RK2606 chip, and apart from the so-called original designs and a couple of exclusive features, all these players seem to be the same.

Aigo MP-F958 makes no exception, proudly integrating the RK2606 chip. What does Aigo have to offer with this new player? First of all, it comes encased in a white plastic facade, which feels comfortable and handy. It features rubber-protected USB port and a power input on its left side, while the earphone jack and an SD/MMC expansion slot are placed on the right side.

The 2" LCD is relatively clear, but colors tend to be oversaturated. The navigation key is fairly responsive and the video playback support is well implemented. MP-F958 also features a text reader with clear and sharp fonts and a couple of built-in mobile games. The included FM tuner can work with headphones, but can also be heard on a mono speaker which is integrated in the player. The FM tuner in based on a powerful receiver and the radio stations do not suffer from hiss noise.

The player's battery life is approximated at around 20 h of music playback and several hours of video playback. While using the USB interface for file transfer, the player reached around 7 MB/s while reading and a writing speed of 4.65 MB/s.
