Microsoft has just released patch 1.8 for its popular strategy Windows Phone game Age of Empires: Castle Siege. The new update brings lots of improvements and balance adjustments, but also some fixes for abilities that did not work correctly.

First and foremost, Microsoft announced that this patch would introduce Gold Starter Packs, which will only be available for 3 days after initial offer.

Developers also added a new feature that will allow players to find each other if they want to play together or against one another. The ability to search for players by gamertag has been added in the latest update just for that.

Also, the Alliance Messages screen size has been increased and an issue where defending units would sometimes stutter-step when trying to select a target after a castle breach has been fixed.

Lots of hero abilities have been fixed

Some hero abilities have been modified or fixed because they did not work correctly. For example, Hermann Van Salza’s Shield Wall ability will no longer affect siege units, while Joan’s Convert ability will work correctly with John Kourkouas’ Terrorize ability.

According to the official changelog, when the Terrorize ability stops affecting Infantry squads assigned to Patrol Point, they now properly seek out targets.

Furthermore, players will be pleased to know that using Henry V's ability on a building right before it is destroyed will no longer lock out the ability for the rest of battle. Last but not least, Charles Martel’s Taunt ability will no longer make targets immobile.

Those who had issues with their Spear Infantry should know that this unit no longer takes additional unintended damage from Cavalry.

You can now download Age of Empires: Castle Siege for Windows Phone for free via Windows Phone Store. The game should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8 and up.
