PC sales better than console sales

Grand Theft Auto IV was the most anticipated game of the year and a true hit for Rockstar and Take Two. It managed to jump to the number 1 position in chart sales all over the world and, no matter if we're talking about the PS3 or the Xbox 360 version, this game sells. It seems that, however, its number one days are gone, since a new and brave title got the public's attention.

In what could be considered a surprise for those who think that the PCs are dead and the consoles will rule the world, the best selling game in a couple of European countries (and quite probably more) is the newly released MMORPG Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, which managed to defeat Rocstar's Grand Theft Auto IV in Germany and Sweden.

However, since these sales charts are created for each format supported and not by title and since we don't know the actual numbers, it is still possible for GTA IV sales on Xbox 360 plus PlayStation 3 to be better than Age of Conan's, since both console versions of Niko's adventures are present in the top ten.

Anyway, one thing is clear: Age of Conan proves not only the fact that PC gamers are still there, ready to invest in good games, but also the fact that those saying that AoC is the game which can fight against WoW were right. It's still early to say it as a sure fact, but the initial sales and reception of the game are quite promising. But the Wrath of the Lich King is coming and millions of players are still hardcore World of Warcraft fans who wouldn't trade their game for anything in the world, so it will definitely be a hard job for the Cimmerian.

Funcom's Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures was also the best selling PC title in North America and the UK.
