14 DAY TRIAL // Do you remember that at some point somebody actually managed to get Windows 95 running on Android Wear watch? Well, the same guy managed to port Gameboy on top of the same wearable, which was a Samsung Gear Live, by the way.
Now EpicLPen strikes yet again with another twist in the smartwatch story. He has successfully run games intended for the first-gen PlayStation console on his LG G Watch.
The original PlayStation arrived with a 33.9MHz RISC CPU combined with 2MB of RAM and 1MB GPU unit capable of basic 3D texture mapping and rendering, transparency, fading and shading.
As for the LG G Watch, it survives off a single-core Snapdragon 400 SoC clocked at 1.2GHz with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage and Adreno 305 GPU on board.
So in terms of the hardware, EpicLPen probably didn’t stumble upon many issues, the trouble was probably in the software. However, he did manage to find a solution, by employing the services of ePSXe – a popular PlayStation emulator for Android.
Unsurprisingly, the biggest problem has to do with the emulator’s on-screen buttons which are quite hard to press on such a minuscule display.
