Nintendo games have made it to the wrist

Android Wear watches might bring about features like relaying notifications from your phone or tablet, counting your steps or letting you switch the channel on TV. But if you really want to do something out of the box with it, you probably should look to Corbin Davenport for inspiration.

A while back, Davenport managed to make the oldie and goldie Windows 95 run on its Samsung Gear Live smartwatch.

If you though it was cool to see an operating system that was exclusively available on PC, run on a device with a much-much smaller screen, you’ll be quite interested to see what Davenport has to show you next.

The Samsung Gear Live seems to be inspiring the Android Wear enthusiast to do all sorts of things and this time he wants to give game lovers something to be excited about.

Game Boy comes to Android Wear

So this time, he managed to get a Gameboy emulator up and running on his Android Wear smartwatch. That means he can now play Nintendo-curated games such as Pokemon while connected to a MOGA Hero Power gamepad.

You can check out this curiosity in the video below, but as you can see, the tiny display makes it impossible for you to actually immerse yourself in the game play. Of course, what makes Davenport’s achievement cool is that it has never been done before.

That being said, there are other games you can play if you really, really want to do something on your wrist while you’re waiting for the bus.

Flopsy Droid

Remember when everybody was freaking out about Flappy Bird? It hasn’t been that long since virtually anyone was talking about the game, but it feels like the game has succumbed to a cone of shadow.

Back when the game was super popular, one developer created a Flappy Bird clone he called Flopsy Droid for Android Wear. The app is available for download from the Google Play Store as we speak, if you want to give it a go.

SWIP3

Moving on, we will take the opportunity to remind you about SWIP3, which was actually the first game to be developed especially for Google’s wearable OS.

The game is a simple match-three puzzle, which works like most of the games from the category. Just match three blocks of the same color and as they disappear from the board and go on to live in the void, they will grant you some points. Collect as many points as you can and win.
