Virgin Mobile has just released a new mobile phone in India, the vTrendy, which comes as the sixth handset from the company's Indian line-up of products. The new vTrendy is an affordable candybar that costs only 1,499 INR (about $35 or 23 Euros).

It's very likely that the new phone is manufactured by Nokia, since it looks like only a Nokia candybar would. Anyway, regardless of who made it, the vTrendy has the following features: FM radio, speakerphone, organizer, a 1.5 inch CSTN display with 65K colors and 128 x 128 pixels, a phonebook that can store up to 500 contacts, MIDI ringtones and so on. The vTrendy weighs only 65 grams and measures 100 x 41.8 x 13.6 millimeters.

Talking about the new phone, Deval Parikh, chief officer at Virgin Mobile India, said, "This stylish looking, light weighted, sleek and feature rich handset has been especially designed to appeal to our young audience who consider personal devices an expression of their style statement amongst their peer group. To add to our users' delight, vTrendy has a one-touch access to Vbytes, Virgin Mobile's VAS data portal, where users can get unlimited access to Virgin Mobile selected content and other applications for a simple charge of Rs. 5 per day."

The vTrendy handset is available as of now across India in lots of retail stores, including the ones of Univercell, Vishal Mega Mart, The Mobile Store, Convergem, Croma and Big C.

Although Virgin Mobile has a history of almost ten years, the company offers services in India only since March 2008, after closing a deal with Tata Indicom, a leading Indian carrier. Virgin Mobile India was launched as the first youth-focused mobile service provider and its plan is to attract as many young users as possible.
