Good news for Android fans and enthusiasts in Australia, as one of the most affordable LG smartphones powered by KitKat platform is about to make its debut in the country.

The black version of the L40 is now listed on LG Australia webpage with a $129 (€88) suggested retail price tag attached to it. This suggests that the smartphone may go on sale in the next couple of days at major retailers and carriers in Australia.

Even though there’s no telling when exactly the smartphone will hits shelves, at least we now have an idea of how much the LG L40 might cost. Given the fact that it’s an affordable smartphone, most carriers will probably offer the L40 on prepaid.

It may also be available for purchase for free on select plans. Various authorized retailers may offer the budget-friendly smartphone as well, but we can’t confirm that it will go on sale for the same price announced by LG Australia on its official website.

Potential customers should know that this is the single-SIM version of L40, though LG has also released a dual-SIM model that is available in emerging markets and countries where carrier policy is not that prohibitive when it comes to dual-SIM phones.

Although it includes only entry-level specs, the LG L40 comes with new features that are offered by most LG smartphones launched this year.

Speaking of which, LG L40 will ship with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box, which is one of the latest versions of Android launched by Google.

Obviously, with the recent Android 4.4.3 KitKat announcement, KitKat 4.4.2 is not the latest anymore, but until the former makes its way onto all compatible devices, it will take some time.

Aside from KitKat, the L40 offers most of LG’s innovative software features, such as Knock Code, QSlide, Guest Mode and more.

Hardware-wise, LG L40 comes packed with a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor inside, which is complemented by an Adreno 302 graphics processing unit and only 512MB of RAM.

The smartphone only features 4GB of internal memory, but users can further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot. LG L40 sports a 3.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 480 pixels resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 2 coating.

There’s also a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which lacks LED flash, but offers video recording. The L40 does not come with a secondary camera in the front and does not feature 4G support.
