Indian handset manufacturer Karbonn and Innominds have teamed up to offer customers a new affordable 3G tablet. The slate is called Agnee and will be available soon for under Rs 10,000 (190 USD or 145 EUR) outright.

Karbonn Agnee is India’s “first indigenous 3G tablet” and features a design based on a Qualcomm reference. Obviously, it’s equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor clocked at 1 GHz.

In addition, the slate packs 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

It comes with 3G and voice calling support, along with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 800 x 480 pixels resolution.

“Qualcomm is committed to making 3G an affordable offering and continues to play the role of technology enabler and innovator, in concert with our ecosystem suppliers, to ensure that the benefits of 3G touch the lives of those throughout India,” said Dr. Avneesh Agrawal, SVP and president of Qualcomm India & South Asia.

Karbonn Agnee is powered by Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box and embeds a 4000 mAh Li-Ion battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

It is also worth mentioning that the Agnee comes with support for 22 Indian languages and is expected to go on sale around Diwali. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
