Intex, one of the major Indian companies that flood the market with cheap Android smartphones and tablets, is about to launch two new affordable handsets, the Aqua SX and Aqua Star.

Both are affordable Android smartphones, so don’t expect anything too impressive. According to fonearena, both Intex handsets are now listed on the Indian company’s official site and they have been priced at Rs 4,490 ($80/€65) and Rs 3,990 ($75/€55), respectively.

As expected, both handsets are powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system with little to no chance to an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

Unfortunately, Intex has yet to publish all details on Aqua Star specs, but there is plenty of info regarding the Aqua SX instead.

First of all, Intex Aqua SX offers dual-SIM capability, which is a must on the Indian market. On the inside, the smartphone packs a 1GHz single-core MediaTek MTK6515 processor, which is complemented by 256MB of RAM and 512MB of ROM.

Users will be able to further expand storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card. The phone also sports a decent 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 320 pixels resolution.

On the back, Intex Aqua SX packs a 5-megapixel photo snapper, while in the front there’s a secondary VGA camera for video calls.

Other highlights of the phone include: 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio, Advance Auto call record, English and Hindi language support, WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP connectivity, as well as GPS and 1450 mAh Li-Ion battery.

We also know the Intex Aqua Star will be equipped with a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display, along with a 3-megapixel rear camera and a secondary 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

Keep in mind that while the Aqua Star is offered only in black color, the Aqua SX has been confirmed to arrive in both black and white color options.
