14 DAY TRIAL // Since Alcatel has been purchased by TCL Corporation several years ago, the brand has become well known in China and other Asian countries.
But that's not the only place where Alcatel smartphones made their debut in the last couple of years. The latest product in the company's portfolio is called OneTouch POP Astro and is meant to bring LTE to the masses.
For the time being, the only carrier that announced it would offer the Alcatel OneTouch POP Astro is T-Mobile, which means that customers in the US are among the first to be able to grab the smartphone.
The Magenta carrier announced that Alcatel OneTouch POP Astro is now available for purchase for $0 down and $6.24 monthly payments for two years.
However, T-Mobile also offers customers who don't want to be tied by a long-term contract the option to grab the smartphone for $180 upfront.
Moving on to specs, as many might expect Alcatel OneTouch POP Astro is a budget-friendly smartphone, so we don't expect any fancy features to be included.
The smartphone is expected to arrive in other countries soon
Apart from the fact that the phone offers LTE support, the OneTouch POP Astro will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box.
While this might sound disappointing for some, Lollipop-powered smartphones seem to be pretty rare this days at this specific price tier.
On the inside, Alcatel OneTouch POP Astro is equipped with a 1.5GHZ quad-core MediaTek MT6732 processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. A microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB) is included as well.
Alcatel's budget-friendly handset sports a 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution and 245ppi (pixel per inch).
It's also worth mentioning that Alcatel OneTouch POP Astro packs a 5-megapixel camera on the back, a VGA front-facing camera and 2,000 mAh battery.
