It can hold micro-ATX cases and has a motherboard tray parallel to the base

A new case for mini personal computers has been revealed, one that is longer than it is wide (at the front) or tall. Because of that, AeroCool, its maker, gave it the name of Dead Silence Cube, or DS Cube for short.

The word “cube” seems to be used and abused by a lot of companies these days. A cube is supposed to be a rectangular 3D object with width, length and height equal to one another.

And yet companies, AeroCool included, use the term to name pretty much every new case that is stockier than the norm.

Alas, there is nothing we can do about that, and it's not like semantic correctness ever really takes precedence of hype.

Besides, artistic license has been in use since ancient times, and the new Dead Silence Cube can look squarish if you get the angle right. Well, the case has been around for a while, now it's just gotten a black+white paint job.

For those who want the specifics, the newcomer measures 381 mm x 265 mm x 411 mm (L x W x H), which means 15 x 10.43 x 16.18 inches.

The shape means it can fit a horizontal motherboard tray. Normally, desktop cases hold the mainboard vertically, and the add-in cards and memory horizontally, but this is in reverse.

One 5.25-inch drive bay is included, as well as three 3.5-inch bays and a pair of 2.5-inch bays, divided across three cages.

They're not separated by type though. The top cage holds a 5.25-inch bay and the exposed 3.5-inch ones. It is detachable, in case you need the space for an extra-long graphics card (320 mm / 13.59 inches).

On that note, CPU coolers of up to 190 mm in height (7.48 inches) are supported, and you'll still have room for a front 200 mm intake fan, a top 140 mm exhaust one, a second 120 mm top spinner, and a 120 mm model at the back (also for exhaust). The cost is probably around $130 / €130.
