Keepers at Pueblo Zoo in the state of Colorado in the United States have recently announced that the facility is now home to a pair of porcupette twins.

The tiny creatures belong to a species known as the African crested porcupine. They were born earlier this week to mom Asha and dad Lance, and they are both healthy and active.

Until now, zoo employees and vets have not been able to get close enough to the porcupines family to carefully examine the new arrivals, Zoo Borns reports.

In fact, they say that even taking pictures of them is a rather difficult thing to do.

This is because both the porcupette's mom and their dad are very protective of them, and show their quills every time somebody approaches them, the same source details.

Asha, Lance and their two bundles of joy currently live in an exhibit viewable by the public.
