Adobe has made some great steps into the mobile phone market this year, both with the launch of Flash Player 10.1 for smartphones, as well as with the release of some new applications for mobile phone users, including Adobe Reader for Android. Made available for users all around the world only two months ago, the solution already reached 1 million downloads, the company announced recently.

“Today’s post is dedicated to our Adobe Reader for Android users who have been instrumental in building some great momentum since we launched just two months ago. Just this week, Android reached the million download mark in the Android Market. Also in that time period, Adobe Reader has received an average of four stars from over 4,000 users who have rated it to date. eWeek recently picked Adobe Reader as one of the Top 10 Apps Motorola Droid X owners should acquire at launch,” Aman Deep Nagpal, Senior Product Manager, Acrobat Solutions, notes in a recent post on the Acrobat Blog.

Adobe Reader was not the first application to offer Android mobile phone users the possibility to view PDF files on their devices, but it seems that it might become the most popular very soon. According to Aman Deep Nagpal, Adobe has in store some more enhancements for the mobile application, in its attempt to enable as many Android users as possible to view PDF files on their handsets.

“Based on user feedback, we released an update to Adobe Reader for Android earlier this month with performance enhancements and the ability to open PDF files from local storage on Android mobile devices. We look forward to further enhancing the product and providing you with a great user experience for viewing and working on PDF documents on mobile devices,” he states.

Those Android phone owners interested in the solution should find it available for download over at the Android Market. According to the development team, those who try it would offer feedback on the application, so that more improvements and enhancements are added into the mix.
