Several world-class publishers have used Adobe Digital Publishing Suite to create magazine applications that now appear in the Apple Newsstand section of the App Store and the Newsstand folder on the iPad, Adobe announced today.

With Newsstand now live, Adobe is mighty proud to say that, thanks to adding support to its Adobe Digital Publishing Suite, publishers like National Geographic, Reader’s Digest and Condé Nast were able to deliver the latest issues of their magazines to customers, right to their iDevices.

Adobe expects other iPad magazines to arrive from Bonnier, Dennis Publishing, Newsweek, Rodale Inc., Smithsonian and Wenner Media, taking advantage of the Newsstand feature.

“We are seeing rapid adoption of Adobe Digital Publishing Suite among publishers that want to create exceptional, engaging apps enabled for Newsstand that reinvent the magazine experience while making digital content more easily discoverable and marketable,” said Todd Teresi, vice president and general manager, Media Solutions, Adobe.

“Adobe technology is lowering the barriers to publishing digital editions of magazines and newspapers as well as enabling publishers to better showcase and merchandise digital content on iOS devices.”

Adobe says that apps created with its suite need to go through Apple’s net to get to Newsstand, therefore customers can be sure everything is approved by the company headquartered at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California.

Commenting on the Newsstand compatibility, Peggy Northrop, vice president and global editor-in-chief, Reader’s Digest, said: “Using Adobe Digital Publishing Suite to create tablet editions of Reader’s Digest means we can easily and efficiently share content with our international editions.”

“Adobe’s full support for Newsstand is attractive for us because it will provide our readers/customers with the convenience of having content immediately available in their digital newsstand as well as organizing all their magazines in one spot,” added Northrop.
