Mobile applications developer MightyExcellentPosse announced the release of a new entertainment software for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. FaceTag - What Your Face Said Last Night, enables users to add text messages to any photo and share it with the rest of the world.

The usage of the application is very simple: take a photo using the phone's camera or select a picture from the library, choose one of the available talk bubbles, add a text describing what the friend's face just said or whatever funny line comes to mind, and share the result with others. There are four custom designed bubble styles to choose from, each of them being able to point to 6 - 8 directions. The bubbles can be resized and placed anywhere within the picture. Also the text's font can be easily changed by pressing the "T" key at the bottom right of the screen when typing into a bubble. FaceTag can be used with both Portrait and Landscape images.

The modified picture can be sent as an email attachment, posted to Twitter, or posted directly on the Facebook Wall. Even though the iPhone OS does not support sending MMS directly from the application, users can still send the image as a text message by selecting the finished photo from the library and forwarding it via the wireless carrier's text service. The completed picture is automatically stored in the photo library, so it can be easily retrieved and sent again at a later time.

To help build the FaceTag community, MightyExcellentPosse plans to launch a dedicated website where users will be able to share their creations. Currently, the developer is gathering the most awesome photos submitted by users to be included on the future website.

FaceTag carries a price tag of $0.99 and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iPhone OS 3.1.3 or later. The application can be found here.
