Adaptawear introduces a bra specifically meant for women with arm or hand mobility issues
Adaptawear introduces a bra specifically meant for women with arm or hand mobility issues

Unfastening a bra can be vexing, especially if all the hooks are placed at the back. The situation is doubly annoying for women who, either because of their professions or some accident, have lost some of the mobility of the arms. The same applies for elder women, who might have trouble bringing their arms to the back to unfasten the bra. Luckily, Adaptawear, an “adaptive clothing designer,” has come up with a solution in the CoreBra.

With the assistance of the Health Design and Technology Institute from the Coventry University, Adaptawear has designed a product that replaces traditional hooks placed at the back with front magnetic hooks and some loops. This way, the wearer has unhindered access to them, with absolutely no effort required, as is usually the case with the items we normally find on the market.

Moreover, Adaptawear says, the CoreBra is targeted not only at the elderly and incapacitated, since its design and the material it is made of make it an appropriate accessory for almost any woman out there. It gives shape to the silhouette, while also allowing the wearer to put it on or take it off in just a matter of seconds. As already noted, the CoreBra now marketed was developed only after several tests were run in association with the Institute, and following a number of modified prototypes.

According to the makers, this medical bra also boasts “no restrictive cups sizes, only soft expandable cotton that conforms to your body shape; racer back fit to help reduce shoulder strain and provide firmer support; extra wide adjustable straps,” and is made of 93% cotton and 7% elastane.

Priced at £18.50 (excluding VAT), the Adaptawear made “revolutionary front fastening bra” is now available for order. It comes in eight sizes calculated in terms of circumference and not of cup size. For more details on how to purchase this, see here.
