When he doesn’t have ladies throwing themselves at him on stage, Adam Levine of Maroon 5 gets attacked with powdered sugar bombs, it would seem. It happened some hours ago, as he was leaving a taping for Jimmy Kimmel’s show, and yes, there is video of it.

You can find it embedded below. Footage of the actual attack, shot from a closer range, is available on YouTube, but *please be advised that it contains graphic language that might offend, so exercise caution before pressing play.

One prankster’s idea of a “joke”

Adam was leaving the studio when the incident happened. He went over to the fans to sign autographs and exchange a few words, as is customary at events of this type, and this is when the prankster got close enough to carry out his plan.

Apparently, it was a prankster who did it, Us Weekly reports. The guy is believed to be the same one who threw a rock at Dwayne Johnson, aka “The Rock,” last week.

As it happens, Adam Levine has a song called “Sugar,” so you see the pattern. The singer didn’t appreciate the joke at all and was seen moving away from the crowd at a furious pace, removing his jacket and throwing it to the ground. At the time, he didn’t even know what he’d just been covered in.

In the video below, he seems a bit more composed, but that’s probably because he’d heard police had arrested the attacker. The prankster in question was taken to the police station and booked for battery.

Celebrities and “pranksters”

Social media and the Internet in general have made it very easy for fans to track down their favorite celebrities, be they actors or singers, especially if they’re in the same city or region. In turn, this has made crowd control particularly tricky for the security patrol assigned to the celebrity.

In some cases, this results in total ease in carrying out such “pranks,” which are hilarious to no one but the prankster.

Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, Will Smith, Brad Pitt and America Ferrara, to name just a few celebrities, have all been pranked on the red carpet or on public appearances. In fact, they were all pranked by just one man, an Ukrainian “journalist” and TV personality by the name of Vitalii Sediuk.

The last drop for him came after he tried to hug or kiss Brad Pitt on the red carpet at the “Maleficent” premiere, ending up by punching the actor in the face and knocking off his sunglasses. Sediuk has been banned from all red carpet events in LA for life.
