Adam Lambert came in second on the grand finale of the eighth season of American Idol, but one thing he does not lack is offers to pursue what looks like a very successful music career. Still, Lambert wants his fans to know as early as now that they should not expect something traditional from him, or a material they could easily categorize under one genre for that matter, as CeleBuzz informs.

Known for his glitzy style, which also brought him the nickname of Glambert, the singer says he wants to try something different with his album, to attempt to revert the traditions and values the music industry currently promotes, to really make an impact. In order to do so, of course, he can’t be flat as a line, but needs to embrace different styles and different sounds, he explains in the interview.

“My view of the record industry is that it’s a little too specific lately. The labels tend to try to put one box around every artist and keep them in one genre. We don’t have to go about it that way. Obviously, we want the album to have a cohesive sound. But I think it can kind of be a collection of different styles with me at the center of it [as] the common thread. I don’t want to do one specific genre. I’m more about fusion.” Lambert says, adding he’d like his album to be more like a “rock-pop-electronic-dance thing.”

In the same interview, Lambert, who already enjoys the support of millions around the world despite losing to Kris Allen on the show, also explains that glamour and theatricality are two of the key elements that make him and his music what they are. “If anything I’m more fond of the ‘70s glam feel than the ‘80s, even though I have that style of vocal. There are a lot of pop artists that are using the quote-unquote glam kind of vibe in their music currently. So I think I’m part of a wave and there just happens to not be many guys doing it right now.” the singer says.

Speaking of Kris Allen, the New York Times has a piece saying that AT&T may have swayed results in favor of Allen by offering free phones with free text messaging at two major parties held to show support for him, which led to users casting “blocks of votes.” This, it is believed, changed the odds of winning from Lambert to Allen. The same piece says there is no evidence AT&T might have done the same for Lambert supporters, which brings back again the question of whether someone really wanted Kris to win – or, to put it differently, Adam to lose.
