Adam Lambert thanks his fans for the donations, urges them to continue contributing to the cause

A little while ago, American Idol runner-up and currently the most hyped pop artist of our times, despite not even having an album out, Adam Lambert announced his fans he would be launching a charity program. Set up at DonorsChoose.org, the campaign helped fans get in touch with the singer, while also, most importantly, providing children in arts schools that lacked resources with the necessary equipment. In a new video, Adam thanks fans for their help.

Initially, fans contributed with $40,000 to the cause in a few days since Adam pledged to it. Now, as the online competition has come to an end, fans donated a total of $229,000, as Adam himself says in the video (which you can see below). However, they are encouraged to help whenever they can or feel inclined to, even if the competition has ended, Lambert points out, again offering his heartfelt thanks for the assistance received so far.

“I am unbelievably moved by the generosity and resolve of my fans, who have donated beyond what I could have ever expected to help students around the country.” Adam says in the video recently posted online. “Although I was on tour during the length of the competition, I frequently checked in on the challenge progress and was so amazed to see the number of donors and total amount donated continue to rise and rise.” the singer adds.

As we also reported at the time, those interested in taking part in the campaign had to donate to one particular Adam Lambert fan group. The ten donors with the most impressive contributions received autographed pictures of the singer, while the fan group that managed to net the highest amount of money was rewarded with an online chat session with Lambert himself. This might not seem like much to the untrained eye, but, given that Adam is truly a star that doesn’t make that many public appearances, it was wonderful news for fans.

Speaking of fans, they helped make Adam Lambert’s debut album, not out until November, peak at number two in the online chart over at Amazon.com on Monday. Hours later, the debut material had swept past competition from Barbra Streisand, Madonna, the Beatles and Susan Boyle, to settle in at number one. Even if we’re talking merely pre-sales, the numbers clearly indicate Lambert’s fanbase is one of the strongest in the industry.
