Google has been doubling down on display advertising, one of its weak points in the past. It's been doing quite well in the past year, gaining up on Facebook which has been taking the lead in the market.

Google plans to expand even further this year and, to that end, is now announcing a brand new feature which will make it even easier for small advertisers to create image ads via the Display Ad Builder.

The tool will generate an image ad based on your existing text ads and you can pick the one you like best to run it. It's one of the simplest and fastest way of creating an image and without any hassle.

"The Display Ad Builder tool within AdWords already lets you easily create image and video ads for free and gives you the flexibility to customize these ads to suit your needs," Google explained.

"But today we’re announcing a new feature that essentially builds your image ads for you. The Display Ad Builder now automatically creates suggested image ads, using the existing text ads in your campaign," it added.

The new feature removes even the last few hurdles out of creating an image ad, by automatically suggesting one based on your text. You get several suggestions and you can pick the one that you think works best for your ad or looks the most interesting.

Of course, you can customize the ad after you picked one of the suggestions, you can change the font, text or any colors used in the ad. And you can use the feature outside of the Display Ad Builder too, in any ad group select an existing ad and click on "More actions > Generate display ad."

If the suggestions don't work for you, there's always the option of creating a display ad from scratch or choose a template, like the Display Ad Builder has always worked.
