The company was rumored to be developing an iOS browser too

Adblock Plus is one of those applications you turn to when you find yourself overly annoyed by the plethora of ads showering your display, clouding your browsing activities.

The app is currently available for Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, Android and Internet Explorer and will block all the pesky ads all over the web. But the creators of Adblock Plus have even bigger plans when it comes to the mobile environment, as a new report indicates they might be looking to create a web browser for Android.

It was previously rumored that AdBlock Plus was looking into the possibility of developing a browser for iOS, but nothing materialized. The company has been talking about finding better ways of bringing ad blocking to mobile devices.

It has achieved this with its AdBlock Plus suite of apps, which are quite popular with users, enjoying millions of downloads, but there's always room for improvement.

AdBlock Plus browser for Android might be coming this week

Talk of an AdBlock Plus dedicated web browser has been flying around for quite some time, and today a new report coming to us via Fav Browser says the service will become available as soon as May 20. It’s going to be compatible only with Android devices for the time being, but if proven successful, it will probably be ported to iOS as well.

There aren’t a whole lot of details available about the new browser, except that it is expected to use the chromium rendering engine.

Even if AdBlock Plus has built its popularity on providing a clean browsing experience, the company was accused of receiving money from Google, Amazon and Microsoft in order to allow their ads to pass through the filters and still sneak in.

Since the original report is quite scarce, we will just have to wait and see what happens on May 20. For the time being, we recommend taking this piece of information with a grain of salt. After all, in 2013, we heard similar rumors and nothing came to fruition.

On the other hand, this particular report is so specific (it even provides us with the release time) that we have to be hopeful. In a few days, things will be clear.
