With every new, high-performance photo camera, the quality of the photographs and the speed at which continuous shots can be taken improve. Some high-end cameras can take up to ten continuous shots per second, with the only limiter upon this ability being the storage card's data-writing speed. To respond to the need for faster CompactFlash cards, Active media products has announced a new line of 600X CF cards, known as the Pro Series, which not only have a write speed of 90MB/s, but they are even sturdy and reliable enough "to take into the field."

"Many pro DSLRs can rapid fire up to 10 frames per second, but after the buffer fills they can only shoot as fast as the memory card can write. The memory card becomes a bottleneck in shooting action sequences. These 600X Pro Series cards can write up to 90MB per second, so even in raw mode a high end DSLR will be able to shoot at or near its rated speed for sustained periods," Active Media Products' VP of Sales, Jerry Thomson, explained.

Active Media Products used its extensive solid state storage know-how to produce the new line of cards, the same knowledge it uses in manufacturing its high-quality SSDs (solid state drives) and USB flash drives. The Pro Series of CF comes in storage capacities of 8GB to 64GB, has the aforementioned writing speed of up to 90MB/s and is even strong enough to withstand working temperatures of 0 to 70 degrees Celsius.

"These 600X Pro Series cards can write up to 90MB per second, so even in raw mode a high end DSLR will be able to shoot at or near its rated speed for sustained periods," Thomson added.

Already available through Amazon.com, the 600X Pro Series comes with prices of $99.95 for the 8GB model, of $179.95 for the 16GB version, of $229.95 for the 32GB and of $299.95 for the 64GB card.
