Base building and combat are both featured

Video game developer Eugen Systems and publisher Focus Home Interactive are announcing that they are delivering a new trailer for Act of Aggression, which is designed to show off some pre-alpha stage gameplay that allows gamers to take a look at all the core mechanics of the title.

Gamers can see the way the bases of the three factions are developed and how they each handle the resource management side of the strategy experience, and then the footage moves to actual combat and the way explosions will allow the player to get right into the heart of the action.

Act of Aggression is designed to offer a mix of classic real time strategy mechanics and modern innovations.

Elements like base building and resource collection have all but disappeared from titles launched in the last few years, and Eugen System believes that there are players who will be interested in their classic appeal.

Act of Aggression will feature three core factions:

- the United States Army, weary from a lot of combat operations but able to deploy a range of veterans, although they will be armed with current-gen tech which can create problems in the long run;

- the Cartel, private military contractors who use the latest prototypes that are expensive but tend to also be fragile, which means they need to be deployed at the perfect time;

- the Chimera, a multination platform which is designed to deal with every situation and has units that can be turned into specialized tools or can be mass produced to take out enemies directly.

Act of Aggression is not focused on realism

Eugen Systems is best known for the work they have done on the Wargame series, which was designed to aim for realism in term of both units and maps.

In Act of Aggression, gamers will need to focus on the development of their bases, which can be extended to new resource nodes as long as defenses can be provided, and on the protection of their supply routes before they go on the offensive and take out enemies.

A multiplayer beta for the real time strategy title will be introduced in the coming months and the title will be out on the PC before the end of spring 2015.
