Video game developer Eugen System and publisher Focus Home Interactive are ready to deliver the first official video for their under development Act of Aggression, showing the mix of real time strategy mechanics, quality graphics, and politically-focused story that the title will deliver.

The new game is designed to be a spiritual successor to Act of War, which was introduced in 2005, and the two companies say that the core of the experience will be made up of classic concepts like base building, resource gathering, unit building, and massive battles with plenty of tactical choices.

The video and the images attached to this article show the first look at the engine that will power Act of Aggression and more details will be offered during the Gamescom 2014 event.

The developers are saying that the entire story will take place in the 2020s and will involve 3 powerful factions that are fighting to promote their interest in the world, even as both economic and violent crises are affecting all nations.

Eugen Systems states, “Shadowy organization known as ‘The Cartel’ attempts to complete a secret agenda with high-tech technology, stolen prototypes and stealthy operatives. Against this looming threat stands the Chimere, a UNO funded, classified military organization specialized in fast strikes, which attempts to maintain global peace and order.”

The third faction in Act of Aggression is the classic United States army, which has been involved in heavy combat during the past 20 years and failed to get access to enough replacements but can still use powerful vehicles and hardened veterans to its advantage.

The real time strategy will include two single-player campaigns, which will blend traditional mechanics with storytelling.

At the same time, Eugen System will create a complex and skill-based multiplayer experience that will focus on the power of tech upgrades, resources storage, and base defenses.

All the factions included in Act of Aggression will have access to a variety of infantry, mechanized vehicles, tanks, artillery, helicopters, planes, and unique super weapons.

The units that survive will be able to gain experience in combat and develop their abilities in order to counter new battlefield threats.

It will be interesting to see whether Eugen Systems can create a new classic real time strategy experience that will appeal to both long-term fans of the genre and to newcomers.

Act of Aggression will be launched at some point in 2015 and will probably only be offered on the PC.
